The trek to Nongriat is a challenging and demanding adventure that takes you through 3 kilometers of steep stone steps (6 kilometers round trip) at a very high incline that will test your endurance. This picturesque hike winds through lush green forests along a trail of 3,500 stone steps, passing the famous Double Decker Living Root Bridge, cascading waterfalls, and pristine natural pools. Itinerary

  • Begin your journey from Shillong and head to Nongriat

  • Meet your experienced guide and commence the trek to Nongriat Village, renowned for its living root bridges

  • Navigate the challenging 3-kilometer descent (6 kilometers round trip) along steep stone steps

  • Take a refreshing break at the steel suspension bridge en route to the Double Decker Bridge

  • Continue toward the world-famous Double Decker Living Root Bridge, masterfully crafted from tree roots using traditional indigenous methods

  • Proceed to Rainbow Falls for spectacular views

  • Complete a 30-minute trek from the Double Decker Root Bridge to Blue Lagoon Nongriat, an off-the-beaten-path natural pool featuring stunning turquoise waters

  • Double Decker Root Bridge - Living bridges grown from rubber fig tree roots that take 25 years to develop. Can support 50 people and last over 500 years.
