Overview

Welcome to the city of Rock' n Roll! This land has come a long, long way to be where it's at right now. Shillong started as the capital of Assam and later became the capital of Meghalaya, after the Hill State Movement. The uniqueness of our people involves the languages spoken with lost scripts, our Matrilineal way of life, and a different belief system which focuses on pagan traditional ideas while remaining modern.

The Shillong Culture & Heritage Walk is a captivating journey through the city's rich tapestry. It encompasses landmarks like Ward's Lake, a serene oasis, and the colonial-era Shillong Club. The walk delves into progressive movements through the Brahmo Samaj, reflects spiritual diversity at the Presbyterian Church, and explores governance at the Legislative Assembly. Bustling markets at Khyndailad, historic roads, and cultural sports like Teer Archery showcase Shillong's vibrancy. The walk also touches on Buddhist spirituality, and the Golf Course encapsulates outdoor leisure. It's an immersive narrative of Shillong's history, culture, and evolving identity.
