The Umkar Root Bridge, like other living root bridges in the region, is formed by training the aerial roots of rubber trees over many years. Umkar Root Bridge is not just about witnessing a fascinating natural marvel; it's an opportunity to appreciate the deep cultural heritage and ecological wisdom of the Khasi people while experiencing the breathtaking natural landscapes of Meghalaya. Sohbar village is located around 12 km distance from Sohra(Cherrapunjee) in Shella Bholagonj Block of East Khasi Hills.It is one of the most popular tourist spot for one day outing for locals.It is also a place where Wahrew River offers crystal clear water view.But unfortunately for the tourists this place is still offbeat and untouched.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Guwahati – Sohra ➤

(170 kms 5 hours road time)

Start your journey early in the morning from Guwahati. Drive towards Umiam Lake, which is Enjoy some peaceful moments by the lake, take photographs, and maybe even go for a boat ride. After your visit to Umiam Lake, continue your journey towards Sohra (Cherrapunji). Upon reaching Sohra, check in to hotel, and rest for the night.

Day 2: Sohra Touri ➤

(50 kms 2 hours road time)

Start day early in the morning along with the local guide and go for short trek to Umkar root bridge. It is formed by training the aerial roots of rubber trees over many years. After Umkar root bridge Visit Sohbar and take photograph at the bridge. Also do boating at Wahrew river. Head back to Sohra rest and relax.
